Joining and Leaving
We are part of the Auckland Primary Health Organisation. Signing up as a client is as simple as filling out a registration form, bring in a copy of your passport or birth certificate and transferring your medical notes from your previous doctor to our clinic. From there you will then be required to attend a free health check with one of our nurses.
If you are not a New Zealand resident, are on a student visa or any other visa of less than 2 years from date of entry you will not be eligible to enrol, but can attend our clinic as a casual client. If you are a NZ Resident or on an eligible visa, you will need to bring your birth certificate or passport with you for verification.
Should you decide to leave we will forward your notes, upon request to your new doctor otherwise you may take them yourself. If you decide to enrol with us but cancel within 4 months, you will be charged the difference between the enrolled and casual price of your consultations at Orakei Health Services.
The Waiting Room
For the comfort of others in the waiting room we ask that:
- There is NO smoking
- There is no eating or drinking
- Cell phone use is restricted
- Shopping trolleys are to be left outside the clinic
- Children be supervised to minimise infection/accident risks
Making an Appointment
To make an appointment phone the practice on 578 0956 or use our online booking form. Consultations with our doctors and nurses are by 15 minute appointment. Please inform the receptionist if your appointment is urgent, or requires a longer time for example; require an interpreter, an insurance medical or excision. Arrive a little early and let the receptionist know you have arrived. If you are unable to keep your appointment please phone us as soon as possible. The doctors and nurses will do their best to see you on time but please understand that sometimes emergencies and other instances occur. You will be informed if there is a delay.
Some appointments take longer so please book enough time to discuss with the doctor.
Appointments that require mininum 30 minutes with Doctor – All interpreted appointments, insurance medicals, driving medicals, diving medicals, travel consults, first appointments at the clinic and if you require medication as well as referral forms.
Please call the clinic and ask Reception if you are unsure.
If you are unable to attend an appointment, please give us at least two hours notice of cancellation. A $20 fee will be charged for non attendance without notification.
You will not be contacted unless your results suggest that further investigation is required. Urgent results will be dealt with immediately and you will be notified by your doctor or nurse. Any other concerns please call and a nurse will phone you back.
Telephone Repeat Prescriptions
Your doctor may have discussed with you the possibility of receiving repeat prescriptions by telephone request. These can take up to 48 hours. You can leave a message on the nurses line or repeat prescription line with your name, date of birth, the name of your doctor and the name of the medication. The nurses will contact you either by phone or txt if the prescription available. You may have it faxed to your pharmacy if you request. There will be a charge for a telephone and fax prescription. Please advise the name and fax number of the pharmacy you want the prescription faxed to. You can also come to reception and make out the request at the front desk.
Please be aware if it is 3 months since you have seen your doctor repeat prescriptions are unlikely to be issued without prior arrangement. Prescriptions for new patients and casual patients cannot be issued over the phone.
All patients that require a interpreter are to book 2 x 15minutes(30minutes) consults with all medical staff. Reception staff are able to organise the free interpreting service that can come to the clinic and attend the appointment.
After Hours Service
In case of emergency please dial 111.
Any calls outside our hours of service will be answered by our after-hours triage nurse who will assist you as required.
